Appointment Process
Step 1: Board Declares Vacancy Appointment Process
Date: May 26, 2026
- The Board formally acknowledges and declares a vacancy on the Board of Directors.
- The vacancy becomes effective on June 10, 2026.
- The Board establishes its intent to fill the vacancy through appointment.
Step 2: Recruitment and Application Period
Application Posting Date: June 3, 2026
- Outreach and Communication: the District will publicize the vacancy through multiple communication channels to encourage community participation:
- District website
- District webpage news announcement
- Local news media
- District social media platforms
- Local Community Stakeholder Groups
- Application Availability
- Application materials and appointment information are posted on the district website.
- Information includes:
- Qualifications for service
- Appointment timeline
- Application deadline
- Term of appointment
- Application Window: June 3 – June 17, 2026
- Applications Close: Midnight June 17, 2026
- June 18 - 19, 2026: Exec. Assistant confirms interview schedule for the June 23, 2026 Board meeting with applicants.
Step 3: Board Review of Applications
Date: June 19 – June 22, 2026
- June 19, 2026 Applications are posted in the Board packet viewable by public and Board Directors.
- Board members independently review submitted applications.
Step 4: Candidate Interviews
Date: June 23, 2026 Regular Board Meeting
- The Board conducts candidate interviews during a public meeting.
- All candidates will be asked the same three interview questions determined by the Board. These questions may be different than the ones asked in the initial application.
Interview Format:
- Board Chair welcomes candidates one at a time
- Board Chair asks interview questions
- The Board Chair may ask for clarification from a candidate, but no additional follow up questions will be asked by board directors.
- Board Chair thanks the candidate for their submission
Step 5: Board Deliberation and Appointment
Date: June 23, 2026
Following interviews:
- Board will take 3-5 minutes to organize notes and reflect on candidate interviews.
- Board directors will share observations and reflections in public.
- Board Chair will open nominations on the floor. Board Directors may nominate a candidate of their choice.
- Board Chair closes nominations.
- At this time, any Director may make a motion to appoint a candidate to fill the vacancy or motion to extend the appointment process to allow for further deliberation.
- After a second, the Board will open discussion prior to a roll call vote on the appointment.
Step 6: Oath of Office and Seating of New Board Member
Following Appointment
- The appointed board member accepts the appointment.
- The appointed board member takes the oath of office.
- The new board member is seated and begins serving immediately.
