The Forest Grove School District (FGSD) is pleased to announce that Arturo Lomeli, our current Director of Teaching & Learning, has been appointed as the new Assistant Superintendent. This appointment was officially approved at the School Board meeting held on January 28, 2025.
Arturo will succeed Assistant Superintendent John O’Neill, who is retiring after 23 years of dedicated service to the District. Arturo will continue to lead the Teaching & Learning team, a role he has held with distinction for the past two years. During his time in this role, Arturo has created a focus on instructional improvement, led a math adoption, implemented common assessment tools across the district, and is leading the effort to revitalize and improve the District’s dual language program.
Arturo brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this position. Before joining FGSD, he served as the Executive Director of Secondary School Leadership in Belton, Texas, where he supervised three high schools and four middle schools. In this role, he provided direct oversight and coaching for instructional and operational school improvement.
Arturo also has deep roots in Oregon education, having served as Principal at Hillsboro High School and South Meadows Middle School in the Hillsboro School District. His extensive background in school supervision, instructional leadership, and school safety makes him uniquely qualified to take on this expanded role.
The district will soon begin a recruitment and interview process to hire a new Director of Human Resources.

El Distrito Escolar Forest Grove (FGSD) se complace en anunciar que Arturo Lomeli, nuestro actual Director de Enseñanza y Aprendizaje, ha sido designado como el nuevo Superintendente Asistente. Este nombramiento fue aprobado oficialmente en la reunión de la Junta Escolar celebrada el 28 de enero de 2025.
Arturo sucederá al Superintendente Asistente John O'Neill, quien se jubila después de 23 años de servicio dedicado al Distrito. Arturo seguirá liderando el equipo de Enseñanza y Aprendizaje, un rol que ha desempeñado con distinción durante los últimos dos años. Durante su tiempo en este rol, Arturo ha creado un enfoque en la mejora de la instrucción, lideró la adopción de matemáticas, implementó herramientas de evaluación comunes en todo el distrito y está liderando el esfuerzo para revitalizar y mejorar el programa de lenguaje dual del Distrito.
Arturo aporta una gran experiencia y conocimientos a este puesto. Antes de unirse a FGSD, se desempeñó como Director Ejecutivo de Liderazgo de Escuelas Secundarias en Belton, Texas, donde supervisó tres escuelas secundarias y cuatro escuelas intermedias. En este puesto, brindó supervisión directa y capacitación para la mejora educativa y operativa de la escuela.
Arturo también tiene profundas raíces en la educación de Oregón, ya que se desempeñó como director en Hillsboro High School y South Meadows Middle School en el Distrito Escolar de Hillsboro. Su amplia experiencia en supervisión escolar, liderazgo educativo y seguridad escolar lo califica de manera única para asumir este rol ampliado.
El distrito pronto comenzará un proceso de reclutamiento y entrevistas para contratar a un nuevo Director de Recursos Humanos.
