Written Public Comment

The School Board accepts written comments. The comment window opens the Friday before the next scheduled board meeting by 5:00 PM and closes the following Monday at 3:00 PM. Comments are collected in an electronic form on the district’s website and made available to the Board prior to the meeting.

All written public comments received during the comment period are provided to and reviewed by the Board. The Board does not respond directly to public comments; however, district staff may contact commenters as needed to address questions or concerns.

Commenters are asked to provide:

  • Name (first and last name or last name initial)
  • Affiliation with FGSD (student, parent/guardian, staff or other community member)
  • District residency
  • Email address so that district staff can follow up, if necessary.
  • Comment topic
  • Written comments

Written public comment is a public record and will be included in the board packet.

Live Public Comment

The School Board welcomes both virtual and in-person public comments during business meetings when public comment is included on the agenda. A total of 15 minutes is set aside for public comments, with each speaker allowed up to 3 minutes. Groups with similar comments are asked to select one spokesperson.

Please arrive at least five minutes early to complete a public comment request card and return it to the Board’s Executive Assistant. Public comment is not on a first-come, first-served basis. Priority will be given to district residents, and speakers will be selected at random.

The Forest Grove School District values community input and involvement. We ask that all speakers model respectful behavior so that a variety of viewpoints and perspectives can be shared.
