On Thursday we had our first annual AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) Family Night! Our AVID elective teachers planned a fun night with burgers where they explained what AVID is. They also included some fun activities--students traced their bodies on paper and decorated them with what they want to do with their future. In the middle, there was a plain heart and each family could write down what their hopes and dreams are for their student. We ended the night with a question and answer session with a student panel from Forest Grove High School, compiled of juniors who have been in the AVID program for 1-3 years. It was a successful night with about 80 people present! For more information on the AVID program please visit this page.
