Hello Harvey Clarke Kindergarten Families,
We are so excited to welcome our newest students to Harvey Clarke! Due to unexpected updates related to ongoing construction and safety upgrades, we will not be able to hold Kindergarten Jumpstart before the school year as originally planned. We know this is a change from what families were expecting and appreciate your flexibility.
Instead, we will provide a “soft start” during the first week of school. Kindergarteners will rotate through small groups with each kindergarten teacher before being placed into balanced classrooms for the second week. Families will receive teacher placements at the end of the first week.
This approach also allows our full Harvey Clarke team to be available to support our youngest learners. During traditional Jumpstart, funding limits the number of staff who can participate, while during the school year our entire team can help welcome and support our kindergarteners. Having our older students here will also provide positive role models and help kindergarteners experience school as it normally is.
Important Dates:
- Monday, August 31st: Back to School Night 4:00-6:00 — Meet the kindergarten team and get familiar with the school.
- Wednesday, September 2nd: First day of school for Kindergarten — No late start.
- Tuesday, September 8th: Please bring kindergarten school supplies for the first time. Please do not bring school supplies to Back to School Night or during the first week of school.
