Principal Announced for Echo Shaw Elementary
(FOREST GROVE) – The Forest Grove School District (FGSD) is pleased to announce the hiring of Laura Mannen as the new Principal at Echo Shaw Elementary School. Ms. Mannen will begin her new position on July 1, 2023.
Ms. Mannen is currently serving as the District Dual Language & Spanish Literacy Teacher on Special Assignment (TOSA). Her responsibilities have included coaching teachers on best practices for implementing the district literacy adoption and coordinating professional development for the dual language program. Prior to serving as the Dual Language TOSA, Laura was the District English Language Development (ELD) Facilitator. Before moving to the district office, Mannen was the ELD Facilitator and Literacy Coach at Echo Shaw Elementary for seven years and the ELD Facilitator at Cornelius Elementary for 14 years.
“The opportunity to serve as the instructional leader at Echo Shaw Elementary is both exciting and humbling to me. Echo Shaw is a place that I have called home for several years, and the Cornelius community is near and dear to my heart,” commented Mannen. “I served for several years under the exceptional leadership of Dr. Perla Rodríguez, and I will not even pretend to be able to fill those shoes. Yet, I also know that this school must continue to have visionary leadership because the students and families we serve deserve nothing less.”
Ms. Mannen earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Oregon and her Master of Education and Administrator License from Portland State University. She is also a Nationally Certified Trainer in OCDE Project GLAD® and Systematic ELD and Constructing Meaning.
The district is excited for Laura to become the principal at Echo Shaw and wishes her well as she begins the next chapter of her career.

El Distrito Escolar de Forest Grove (FGSD) se complace en anunciar la contratación de Laura Mannen como la nueva Directora de la Escuela Primaria Echo Shaw. La Sra. Mannen comenzará su nueva posición el 1 de julio de 2023.
La Sra. Mannen está sirviendo actualmente como Maestra en Asignación Especial (TOSA) coordinando los Programas de lenguaje dual y Lectoescritura en español para el Distrito. Sus responsabilidades han incluido entrenar a los maestros en las mejores prácticas para implementar la adopción de lectoescritura del distrito y coordinar el desarrollo profesional para el programa de lenguaje dual. Antes de servir como TOSA de lenguaje dual, Laura fue la Facilitadora de desarrollo del lenguaje inglés (ELD) del Distrito. Antes de trasladarse a la oficina del distrito, Mannen fue la facilitadora de ELD y entrenadora de lectoescritura en Echo Shaw Elementary durante siete años y la facilitadora de ELD en Cornelius Elementary durante 14 años.
“La oportunidad de servir como líder de instrucción en Echo Shaw Elementary es a la vez emocionante y humilde para mí. Echo Shaw es un lugar que he llamado hogar por varios años, y la comunidad de Cornelius está cerca y querida a mi corazón," comentó Mannen. "Trabajé durante varios años bajo la excepcional dirección de la Dra. Perla Rodríguez, y ni siquiera pretendo ser capaz de llenar esos zapatos. Sin embargo, también sé que esta escuela debe seguir teniendo un liderazgo visionario porque los estudiantes y las familias a las que servimos no merecen menos."
La Sra. Mannen es licenciada en Filosofía y letras por la Universidad de Oregón y posee un máster en Educación y una licencia de administradora por la Universidad Estatal de Portland. También es formadora certificada a nivel nacional del OCDE Proyecto GLAD® y de ELD Sistemático y Construcción de Significado.
El distrito está emocionado por Laura para convertirse en el director de Echo Shaw y le desea lo mejor a medida que comienza el siguiente capítulo de su carrera.
