Dear Tom McCall Families,
Tonight our school is hosting a Family Night. This past summer we attended a conference with many other school leaders from our district. We learned that many students have experienced increased levels of learning once they develop a sense of belonging at their school. For many of our students, they do not feel known by their teachers until their teachers get to know their families. This is why we are hosting a Family Night tonight- so our teachers can get to know the families of their students and together we can ensure that all of our students learn at high levels throughout the year.
Please bring your Tom McCall student with you to tonight’s event, along with siblings, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and/or any other important people in your child’s life. Your student will take you on a tour of their classrooms to show you where they sit, point out important areas within the classrooms, and also guide you through a community building activity. Cookies will be served.
Teachers will not be making formal presentations to family members or meeting with family members to review student progress. This information will be shared at Parent Teacher Conferences, which are scheduled for October 23, 24, and 25, later this month.

Esta noche nuestra escuela está organizando una noche familiar. El verano pasado asistimos a una conferencia con muchos otros líderes escolares de nuestro distrito. Aprendimos que muchos estudiantes han experimentado mayores niveles de aprendizaje una vez que desarrollan un sentido de pertenencia en su escuela. Para muchos de nuestros estudiantes, no se sienten conocidos por sus maestros hasta que sus maestros conocen a sus familias. Es por eso que estamos organizando una Noche familiar esta noche, para que nuestros maestros puedan conocer a las familias de sus alumnos y juntos podamos asegurarnos de que todos nuestros alumnos aprendan a altos niveles durante todo el año.
Traiga a su estudiante Tom McCall con usted al evento de esta noche, junto con sus hermanos, primos, tías, tíos, abuelos y / o cualquier otra persona importante en la vida de su hijo(a). Su estudiante lo llevará a recorrer sus aulas para mostrarle dónde se sientan, señarle áreas importantes dentro de las aulas y también lo guiará a través de una actividad de construcción comunitaria. Se servirán galletas.
Los maestros no harán presentaciones formales a los miembros de la familia ni se reunirán con ellos para revisar el progreso de los estudiantes. Esta información se compartirá en las conferencias de padres y maestros, que están programadas para el 23, 24 y 25 de octubre, más adelante este mes.
